I fed four channels to my mixer with the four signals, expecting them to be clearly distinguishable from best to worst, but (it was an analog mixer) even the expected gain drop wasn't visible on the gain knobs. I have put both through tests to find differences, like daisy chaining all four channels of one splitter unit to amplify any degradations that the unit may introduce. To my experience, in live or rehearsal room situations, I have used both units interchangeably without any meaningful difference in sound. My experience with splitters are with the Palmer PRM-MS, a 4-channel rack mounted 1-into-3 splitter (one through, two isolated), and a similar thomann "t.racks" knockoff. I have to admit I've never used either of the two. Thank you very much for getting this far and I would appreciate it if you could share any thoughts you might have on this. Do cheaper splitters add noise/excessive distortion to the signal? Can you recommend any other solution/gear for this case? Money is not a completely critical aspect, but I wouldn't like to overpay just out of snobbery. Is it worth paying triple the money for the Radial box, will the difference be noticeable in a live? Both gear units have fantastic user reviews, but maybe I'm missing some aspect that I have to take into account when making the decision. ![]() In Europe the difference between both is about 100 euros. As two examples of splitters we have Klark Teknik DS 20 and Radial Engineering PROMS2. Recently I have seen different options that I could go for. Not to mention that most consoles have preamps that are probably better than the one in my multi-FX. This way, the sound engineer can adapt the amount of wet (quite large amounts of reverb and delay) to the dimensions and resonance of the venue. However, I would like to be able to send the dry signal directly to the mixing console and send only the wet of the multi-FX to another channel of the mixing console. I use several presets within the same gig and sometimes even within the same track. I am a vocalist in a band and at the moment I use an Audix OM5 connected to Boss VE-500 as a stompbox for effects. I am currently looking for a solution for live gigs. ![]() I'm posting on this subreddit for the first time and I'm hoping that the good people here can help me with a decision of some importance.
